Newly crafted, these premier ski properties feature reclaimed beams salvaged from demolished ancestral houses. By breathing new life into these historic timbers, they weave a new chapter of history for the next generation.

Case Study 03

Inspired by the private residence of our architectural team leader, this mountain retreat offers breathtaking alpine views overlooking the ski resort. The interior is defined by a vaulted ceiling featuring an extensive use of reclaimed timbers—including the traditional tenbin-bari (balance beams)—while a gallery corridor creates a space that feels contemporary yet deeply nostalgic. While the exterior reflects traditional Japanese elegance, the property captures the essence of a historic village having emerged right within the ski resort.

Case Study 04

This project is the result of a close collaboration with a distinguished Australian architect, where his original vision—initially conceived as a wall-frame structure—was brought to life through traditional Japanese timber framing. By working in harmony to integrate reclaimed beams, the team created a unique fusion of global design and local craftsmanship. The exterior cladding, inspired by the surrounding mountain ridges, and the Hinoki wood baths on the balconies overlooking the ski slopes, offer guests a truly sublime retreat.

New and Old

Historic timbers, salvaged from demolished farmhouses, find new life through the masterful hand-cutting of skilled artisans. These seasoned beams are meticulously joined with new wood, each joint crafted with such precision that old and new merge into a seamless, unified structure. Through this dedicated handwork, two centuries of history will continue to mark time alongside this building.
